Ezuli Danto: the idea of Ezuli originated in stories from Haitian Vodou culture which in itself is a mix of spiritual beliefs from Yoruba and Catholicism. A belief in the power of woman grows deep in these beliefs and the iconic figure of the strength of a mother figure is found in Ezuli Danto. The iconographies of the Madonna seen in the Catholic culture of the Westerners of the Diaspora are often viewed as Ezuli Danto. In Haitian culture Ezuli Danto is often depicted as the Madonna with dark colored skin and African features.
